Site makeover (finally)

I realised last night that I had been using the minimalist white theme I had on the site here now for over a year, so it was about time for a makeover and get get something a little bit more colourful and fresh on here.
So, one theme, lots of customisation and some photoshop later, here we are with the new look. One of the best things about this is that the main content column is a bit wider, so I’ll be able to put higher resolution images embedded in the post (though as usual images will still link to a lightbox higher resolution version.) I could go back through the older posts and re-do the sizes of the images, but that seems like a lot of effort when they are all zoomable with a click anyway. Besides, that would just eat into time I could be using to make another urbex post :P
I’m also going to look at changing the gallery on here, I’ve been using Gallery2 up until now which has just been a pain at times to keep up to date, so I’ll be going through and migrating that all to the new system as time allows.

Welcome to the new server

If you are seeing this post, then you have arrived at the new server. There have been a few changes, the biggest of which is a complete overhaul of the picture gallery. Any links directly into the old gallery may not work, but will instead direct to the first page of the blog, and this post.
If you want to get to the photos, just click the photos link on the left and you will be taken to the new gallery.

New layout

Originally I started this blog with the main content going to be urbex and various photography related stuff, so most posts would have pictures associated.
I realised that the previous design I had on here really didn’t work well with that as images had to be resized down to ridiculously small resolution to fit in with the theme. For this reason I have redone the layout of the site, and I’m working through old posts replacing the images with larger resolution versions of the same image, so if you look back through the archives please forgive any small images for now, but if you check back soon they will be better quality very shortly.
Comments and suggestions on the new site are more than welcome :)
Update: Got some other stuff I need to get on with, so I’ve only updated about half the images so far, rest will have to be done tomorrow if I get chance. Need more hours in the day!

Just arrived

I have finally found the time to get around to setting a blog, as you can see. I have pretty much resisted the idea until now as ‘content is king’ and i dont really have a lot of it, but i decided that i would like somewhere to jot down general meanderings and some more info about my urbex trips, so here it is, all shiney and new!
I will still be adding photographs to my gallery, which can be found via the ‘photos’ link at the top right of the page.
The wee little avatar to the top right of pages is only there temporarily, basically just so people recognise that they have still come to my site despite the redesign and adding of the blog, it will vanish at some point.
